The cab drove the two to a small diner called “Old Greg’s Fish and Chips”. Looks like a nice place. Hobbar thought. He noticed a sign on the window that said OPEN 24 Hours Hobbar grinned, “Ahh, that’s good, this place is open for 24 hours.” Hobbar stepped out of the cab and stretched his legs, he hated sitting especially in a small cab. The young private paid the cabbie who drove off soon afterwards. “Thank god for this 48 hour pass” Hobbar started, “Good to get off the base and that shit food.”
The two walked into the diner, instantly the deep fried fish and bitter vinegar hit Hobbar’s nose. His eyebrows lifted and his shut his eyes, “Whoo! That’s a strong smell!” Hobbar chuckled as he took a deep breath to inhale it all in. There were a few men in the diner, mostly some elder gentlemen and a few police officers and one RAF pilot. The two walked to a booth near the front windows.
“No I haven’t” Hobbar said, “I eat mostly steaks and stuff. I never ate fish really before.” Hobbar looked around, the place wasn’t shabby, and the atmosphere inside was homey.
"Can I take your orders boys?" said the waitress that was on duty.
The waitress was a cute girl, surely no older than 20. He had beautiful pale blue eyes which complemented her pale skin. Hobbar was initially struck by her beauty, but shook out of it.
“I think I’ll have the same thing, plus a steak and a coke.” Hobbar said as he simultaneously looked up at the girl.
“Alright boys, coming right up.” The girl turned around almost angelic like with a graceful spin and returned to behind the counter and presented to order to the cooks.

"Ever had fish and chips, Sarge? Its pretty good, and places like this usually got the best," he said with a smile

"I'll just take a basket of fish and chips with some vinegar and a coke," said Jeremiah with a smile.
