The sounds of shooting put Ben on red alert, and he expected that there were enemies in the area. They would have to save the pregnant woman, so Ben stayed behind while Kevin and Micheal walked her off to Ealing and the main group. Thanks to his completely silenced weapon, Ben could get them to retreat just from losing morale. He was going to be silent, and make sure to conceal himself as much as possible. Ben was going to get in closer, to maximize the range of his rifle.
"They should have a few grenades, so I will just have to kill one of them for it. After that, if its worth the risk, I'll have to let them capture me or something. "
Ben took off the safety lever of the gun, as he slowly made his way to a broken window, peering outside to get a better view. It was para-troopers, landing on the ground and disposing of their parachutes. But, they wore heavy bags that hindered movement, and they always got bunched up. A single grenade might take them all out. What it seemed to be the commanding officer of the group, Ben took aim, using the broken window as support. He peered through the iron sight, aiming at the base of the neck. He breathed in and out very slowly, calming down his nerves and steadying his aim. The steel from the trigger touched Ben's index finger, squeezing it and firing a bullet that flew through the air. Almost no sound was made from the rifle, letting him still be hidden.
The bullet hit the officer in the throat, having him choke on his blood in a matter of seconds before dying. Now all of the germans were on alert, moving around and trying to get behind cover thinking there was a sniper in the area. With this, Ben proned, and crawled out of the door and into a small bit of bushes. But, he stopped dead in his tracks, hearing the dirt being crunched under feet. He was tapped on the shoulder, and he reacted by turning around on his back, and firing from the hip. It was a complete head shot, but on a civilian.
This left Ben traumatized, he couldn't believe that he had killed an innocent person. The lifeless body was on the floor, in a pool of blood. Tears came to his eyes, and he felt that he had just disgraced his family name and every single one of his ancestors before him. Was he the actual bad guy? Was he just causing chaos where ever he went? He started to believe the racist comments that have been made against him over the years. Ben thought himself useless, trash, piece of shit that was never going to amount to anything.
The germans heard the screams of the civilian dying, and they were coming en masse. Ben didn't do anything to stop them, as he was grabbed and soon taken away. He was now a prisoner, and life was going down-hill. Hopefully, his brothers had made it, and that was all that mattered to Ben at the moment.
