Firstly, the rotation of the tank barrel was faster than expected. The Southern armoured car was firmly in it’s sites as D’Dario’s move began.

It only took one round to destroy it, but a second shell from the tank ensured there were no survivors.

One private nearby, hiding behind the aircraft, lost his nerve and tried to run. A burst from the co-axial machine gun cut him down.

Mac’s men to the north came under fire, but responded quickly, moving from the foxholes to the building. Enough suppression was given out to prevent any effective damage being done by the Italians, who were effectively pinned behind cover.

With fire in the southern American building directed upon the Germans behind the aircraft wreckage, the sniper had chance to get another shot off, taking out the second Flakvierling gunner, killing him instantly. This has had a crippling effect on morale, now nobody wants to take a position as the gunner.

Now the main event: MG fire provided suppression to the northern building, but Ares began taking effective action. Driving forward, it began turning both its body and it’s gun to make a faster rotation towards the Italian machine-gun nests. It hit the south one, destroying the façade of the building and burying the gunner and his weapon under rubble. D’Darios MG42 will be removed from his inventory if it is not recovered by the end of the battle.

This provided a brief pause in fire from the northern machine gun, exacerbated by the need to reload. This gave the Americans a chance to open fire. They saw the advancing motorbike, and poured rifle fire on to it.

D’Dario was hit, the round entering his torso. It narrowly missed his stomach, instead causing large bleeding from a messy entry and exit wound. It is a potentially fatal wound without first aid care.

He lost account of the motorbike, veering off course towards the mountain. It flipped, causing D’Dario to fall off, breaking his right arm above the elbow. His right leg is broken half way down his tibia. His boot is trapped under the motor bike, complicating things.

Selluni was less lucky, dying outright in the crash as his head hit the ground, breaking his neck.

Italian forces saw this, and morale is pretty much broken. One more blow from the American forces, and men will start running.

The Major looked on as his men did as they were told, he was still worried about the presence of the enemy armored vehicle that had swung round the building to his right, but as he watched Staff Sergeant Bargett take charge of his men his confidence grew. Within a few short moments he saw that Bargett and his men came under fire from the mountain area. "Son of a bitch their being flanked!" he shouted out. Giles turned toward him wondering what his commander was referring to. "Bargett and his men, they are being fired upon from the north. Giles! Take three men and move to the building just outside." Patterson said as he pointed to the small structure just across the street to the north of their position. "I'm taking Moon and Stetson with me to assist the left flank, wait for my order to move." Giles nodded and pointed out to the remaining Privates to get ready to move on him.

Patterson didn't want to leave the middle as open as he would, but the next actions he could see yet again gave him some confidence in his troops. The second armored vehicle had stumbled onto a mine and seemed to be having difficulty, he thought he could make out men exiting the vehicle, but the smoke emitting from it made things slightly unclear. Soon after his tank finally hit something, granted it was a stationary target this time, but at least they had gotten the hang of it. Followed by another shot on target. "Better safe than sorry I guess, he muttered to himself. Then he noticed the Flak gun was yet again silent. He looked upon it to see yet another one of his troops out of action. He gritted his teeth and pulled his headset around and ordered "This is Bulldog Six! Stay off of the Flak gun, an enemy sniper is targeting it! White Bishop, I'm sending men to assist you to the north! Kennel Master, I'm coming to the south with a couple troops as well! Ares seems to be able to handle the middle at the moment! Give us some covering fire if you can!" With his orders being given he waited a moment for the replies, repeating them if needed. Once Henry was confident everyone understood the plan he turned his attention toward his Firefly.

(I am unsure how far away the tank is, if he is too far out, this next paragraph is void)

Patterson moved to the front of his building and spotted his tank, it had finally gotten into the battle and actually done some work. "Covering fire!" The Major ordered before he eased his way out of the door and moved toward the armor, keeping it in between himself and the enemy as much as he could. When he arrived he banged on the hull and called out "Open up, this is Patterson." to the tank crew's surprise their commander had moved through open ground to get to them. A moment later the driver hatch opened up, it would be safer than sticking your head out of the top of the turret. "Listen, we are pulling out of the middle to support the flanks, seems they are staying out of the middle anyway thanks to you guys. But listen up. They have a sniper somewhere back where they originally opposed our troops, drive your tank down this road and destroy anything you damn well fell like so long as my men aren't on the wrong side of your cannon, understood!?" He waited a moment for their response and started to turn away before stopping himself and adding. "Also, hit that machine gun position on your way over." The driver told them they already fired on the machine gun position. "The other machine gun, TAKE IT OUT! NOW MOVE!" The hatch snapped shut and Patterson hurried back to the building.

When he arrived back at the building, he waited a moment to catch his breath. Really need to get rid of this big weapon He thought before calling out over the radio "COVERING FIRE! COVERING FIRE! COVERING FIRE!!!" then turned to Giles. "Move out Sergeant!" The Major ordered and Giles nodded before turning and waving for the troops to follow him. Patterson took his men and set off to the southern flank. Yelling out for the remaining Private behind the Flak gun to move with him to the building Sergeant Buckley and his men we located at.

"What is the situation Sergeant?" He asked.

"Enemy troops tried moving with armor and hit a mine sir, the tank finished the job but they moved to the downed fighter, tank got another that tried to run. But we can't get tot he Flak gun, sniper has it zeroed in sir!" Buckley reported.

"Roger that Sergeant. You've done a good job so far. We're gonna start pushing back ourselves. They got into position quicker than we did, but I'm ready to take this battle and move on!" Patterson stood up and edged his way toward the northern corner of the building. "COVERING FIRE!" he screamed out and several rifles erupted through the windows and around the southern corner. Alright, about 100 meters passed our position. He pulled back toward the middle of the wall "Cease fire!" and motioned for Buckley to come in close as he pulled out his map and checked his coordinates. "Sergeant, when I say move we are all gonna haul some ass to the other side of that tree, and when the fireworks stop we are gonna move back up to cover here, there should be plenty left, if not, we will move from there to the building I just cam from, pass the order, understood Sergeant?" Buckley nodded, but wondered exactly what his commander was talking about, but he had faith the Major knew what he was doing. Then passed the word along to the men.

Patterson once more got on the radio "Dog Pound One, this is Bulldog Six, how copy over?!" Patterson waited for the response from his support troops in the rear. "Dog Pound One, fire mission for Apollo! Break" He glanced at his finger on his map once more to be sure. "Target coordinates are as follows! Delta-Yankee-Eight-Niner-Four-Four-One-Three-Seven-Four. I say again Delta-Yankee-Eight-Niner-Four-Four-One-Three-Seven-Four. One salvo! How Copy over?" Patterson waited for confirmation of fire mission. When he received it he stood up and replaced his headset and pulled his rifle in close. "MOVE!!" he shouted fiercely and set off running toward the trees.

(I'm not entirely sure of the specifics of how the map changed with the last mod Nathan. Dunno where the motorbike was when it got his or how far Ares moved forward. Giles moved to the small building just north of my position at the beginning of this post and I moved to the men to the south, then we pulled back. Apollo's [the Calliope] target was just on the western side of the enemy troops at the downed fighter, wanted to leave enough room that I didn't kill myself...hopefully. One Salvo = 10 rockets)

Ares’s commander smiled as the top of the Firefly closed. “Targets, range two hundred yards. Machine gun nest. Open fire… Nail the motherfucker!”

The Firefly’s large cannon fired, smashing in to the next machine gun nest, the blast causing the building to collapse on top of Liesuno. The gunner died slowly from the sheer weight on top of him.

However, the effect of firing the many small rounds in a combined space has taken it’s toll on the crew. They are now struggling to hear as their ears have been damaged by the reverberations of the weapon, and the smoke from the barrel is obscuring their view. This has prevented them on firing on the sniper until about halfway through the next post.

However, it advanced as orders, intimidating Italians left, right and centre.

Patterson’s order through to the artillery came through, and the fire mission began. However, the Calliope’s aim was slightly off. It landed to the North-west of the target. The Firefly barely managed to stop before it drove in to the barrage. It had to stop, back up, and take an alternate route around the now highly damaged road.

The distraction of the manoeuvring Firefly, and the smoke raised by the strike gave Hinrich’s men an unmissable chance. Terrified beyond a point where the officer could help, they ran back. Patterson’s men opened fire, as they saw a few silhouettes running towards the smoke. One soldier was hit in his right arm, the round hitting him in the elbow, more or less obliterating his arm. There is massive damage to his lower arm, with the bone broken, muscle destroyed and massive bleeding. The force from the impact has dislocated his arm at the shoulder.

Adam. As it is your post next, you can either write yourself retreating back successfully with your men to the position, or remaining behind the plane. The choice is yours.

This is where things get a bit sketchy, JT, tell me if I’m misinterpreting this.

Patterson’s men advanced to the tree, and spread out, creating large intervals for their advance towards the plane wreckage, the smoke from the calliope barrage providing them with cover from the sniper. (Assuming Adam retreats), they quickly took up positions behind the plane wreckage, assuming a stronger firing position.

To the north, the Italian reinforcements reached the squad, but were too late to save the Corporal. They took up firing positions attempting to provide suppression on Bargett’s men.


If anybody sees any phantom/missing NPC’s on the map, let me know.

The battle was one sided and had sure proven to its expectations. Every Axis advance was just stopped dead in its tracks and now the Germans were forced to the back of the battle, unsure of what was going on up front. Adelbert could tell that the lead of those men had fallen apart, or the inevitable happened where he died. Unsure, and having the Allied might breath down their necks, the Germans were forced to retreat. Along with the one Italian sniper that fell back with them.

”We’ve had a tough fight men, but we must retreat, for our lives are at stake! But I ensure you, these fucking American pigs will be stopped, and when we see them again we will have enough power to take them down!” Adelbert looked over his men and then to the Italian sniper, ”You, come with us.” This was said in poor Italian but the sniper understood.

Soon enough the Axis had picked up their equipment and all and decided what Adelbert said was the only way to do it. Moving towards his injured man, Adelbert wrapped up the wound with a piece of cloth and then helped him walk out with the rest. But before they left, all the axis went out and mooned the tank and then ran. Adelbert knew they had to leave, and leave fast. ”Hurry up, quicken your pace, we must leave now!” And with that, the Germans and the sniper were gone.

“Sgt. Giles is moving up to our western building, and Ares has moved ahead!” Private Hartsock called out from his position at the southern window as the other two men in the building fired at the downed motorcycle. Mac stopped firing to answer with, ”We got them outmatched, let‘s try and end this without any bloodshed.“ He took a moment to get his bearings before speaking again.

”Jasper, get out a handkerchief, and tie to the end of your rifle. Hartsock, use that window and find the tank, try and get them to shift their attention to the end of the mountain pass, and cover the Italian’s only other option. The pass is right there, by the northeastern building. Then I want you to cover the motorcycle for Jasper by crouching by that tree. I’d like to take any survivors alive, but fire if you think you have to. Do you understand?”

The Private said that he did, and Mac helped him climb through the window, and as Hartsock rushed towards the firefly, the Staff Sergeant picked up his radio, ”This is White Bishop, what’s the situation in the south? Over.” After learning the southern Germans had seemingly retreated, Mac continued, ”Alright, Bulldog Six, I’m going to try and talk the Italians down, if not, we could do with a little support. Over and out.”.

After that, Mac turned his attention to Pvt. Jasper. “Jasper, I’ll help you through the other window, then use that heap as cover as you approach the motorcycle, I want to know if there are any survivors. Try and take any alive, just show them you don’t want to cause harm, but if you have to, I understand. Tell him to slowly show you his hands. Lente mostra… manus in Latin, it should be the similar in Italian. Alright?”

As before, the Private understood, and Mac dropped his radio and rifle again to cross his hands and lift the man out through the window. Mac began tying a handkerkief to his rifle, as he watched his subordinate slowly walk over to what was left of the armored car, repeating, “Don’t move, show me your hands, slowly. Lente mostra your manus. Slowly, show me your hands…” with his rifle and it’s white shawl sitting carefully at his hip, awaiting a reason to swing it into action.

“Hey,” Jasper suddenly called out, “it’s a sergeant, and it looks like he’s barely alive under the bike!”

Mac gave an affirmative reply as he walked over to the other side of the building, where a battle still raged. With his rifle and it’s sign of peace hanging out the window, Bargett called for Sgt. Giles and the rest of the Americans to hold their fire. Once their side slowed their violence, Mac also called out for Pvt. Hannibal, who had been bandaging up Carpazo as best he could. The Private answered with a “Yip” and then another as his superior asked him to translate

”Brave Italian soldiers, your Sergeant is badly wounded, trapped under his bike. If he is not given medical attention quickly, he will pass over to his afterlife in a slow and agonizing way. No one should die like that, so please, throw down your weapons and surrender to us so that we may safely treat your sergeant and the rest of the injured.

Even though we have lost friends today, we do not blame you. We blame the Germans and the demons that control them, who have contaminated everything those Godless heathens encounter. This. Is. Italy. Your homeland, rich in history, beauty, and religion, yet the Germans have defiled all of that as they used you as cannon fodder in their war machine as they have tried to take over the world.

But now they have failed, and are now using you and your homeland to grind away at our liberating forces, so that they may have a few more weeks and months with Germany still safe while Italy is destroyed. Do you want Italy to be destroyed in the defense of Germany?

It surely will be as long Italy forgets his holy patronage and continues to do Germany’s dirty work. For as long as there are God fearing and Freedom loving men in this world, we will never give up the fight to rid the world of the twisted evil of Nazism and replace it with peace.

A silent peace with Italy dead and destroyed in the process, or a beautiful peace that will allow you to return to your families and Italy to it‘s majesty, it is your choice.”

Mac paused to allow Hannibal to catch up,
“Una pace silenziosa con i morti di Italia e distrutto nel processo, o una bella pace che consentirà lei ritornare alle sue famiglie ed a Italia a esso 's la maestà, è la sua scelta” And the Staff Sergeant peeked out to watch over his men, all staring over their foxholes at the Italian positions, awaiting their choice, peace, fight, or trick. Each man preparing to face whatever outcome the men on the other side chose.

Bargett and Hannibal finally finished, “So please, drop your weapons and throw away all remnants of the German’s control over you, and embrace the peace of Jesus, the Holy Ghost, and our Dear Heavenly Father.”

With the white-flag shown, Italian fire stopped temporarily. They were willing to give the Americans a chance, even if it just drew them out in to the open.

Jasper began walking slowly towards the motorbike, soon popping out of the line of sight of the Italians in the mountain.

The Italians watched carefully as Hartsock ran towards the tank and it adjusted its aim. However, they avoided firing when they realised it wasn’t aiming at them, but it was blocking their route of retreat.

The message from Pvt. Hannibal was heard, and they thought for a second.

D’Dario’s post is next. He can decide whether his men agree to the peace, and whether he surrenders himself to the Americans. I highly recommend co-operating with the Americans.

The pain was almost unbearable; every movement sent a fresh wave of agony through D’Dario’s body. His mind was foggy and his vision was blurred, half of his world consisted of torn up dirt, the other consisted of a tank rolling across the battlefield and lying right next to him, was the body of Selluni. His eyes staring at D’Dario, lifeless like glass. Through the pain D’Dario felt his rage begin to boil up. This wasn’t how it was meant to happen, he was almost ready to close his eyes and let the deep sleep of death take hold of him, but a voice began shouting across the field, the words where Italian, calling for D’Dario’s men to surrender. His rage boiled over and he let out a roar of anger, shouting out what he believed to be his last orders to his men.
“Soldiers of Italy! Do not surrender.” He gasped and screwed his face up in pain with the effort.
“Regroup with the Germans!” He added quickly after. D’Dario was willing to let his own life be stomped out by the enemy, but enough of his own men had already bled.

Up in the mountain, Jaccobi looked around at the faces of the Italian soldiers, it pained him but he would follow the order. The northern mountain path was their only way out, and with careful movements they pulled back, leaving their leader to the mercy of the Americans. (OOC: If you look at the map, it looks like the path continues north.)

D’Dario let his head rest on the ground, he couldn’t even tell how bad his injuries where, he tried to reach for his pistol or his grenade, intending to fight to the end, but they where out of reach, even his knife was inaccessible. He shook with rage and pain, and began trying to accept the fact that he had been defeated, his plans had failed, he had not been able to hold the enemy at Anzio and now they would march into Italy, this was just the first trickle, he knew, soon the Allies would flow though here and expand their control of his homeland. He glared at the Americans as they came for him, spitting blood at them and cursing their hearts to hell. He had lost everything, and soon he may loose his life.

D’Dario would give nothing if they interrogated him, and if he died in their hands, then he would die with his pride intact.

In a nutshell, D'Dario was taken prisoner of the 3ID. He recovered from his wounds, and is now for ransom, as set by the highest ranking member present at his capture, Major Patterson.

The Italian squad in the mountains could barely hear the orders from the Sergeant, but got the impression as they took the back path in the mountians out of the field of combat.

Major Patterson You fought as an officer of your rank should - back from the line and organising a solid defence. Your tank served the biggest role in this battle, killing one of the armoured cars, neither of which are salvagable, by the way. - 40CP for a good battle, and a strong, well thought-out defence. furthermore, the 3ID now has a motorbike for joy-rides.

Staff Sergeant Bargett Another good battle for you, Staff Sergeant, and like the Major you fought as your role said you should. At the front, making strong decisions, and you strongly fought off two Italian attacks, suffering minimal casualties. - 40CP You had a more delicate position, and it's arguable that your landmines turned this battle, stopping you from being outflanked twice.

Sergente D'Dario - A move that could have gone down as the biggest piece of badassery in history was sadly a failure. Until then however, you had fought well in an outmatched situation with very little AT ability.

Gefreiter Cordlent - Your move could have been very succesful in taking out the southern American flank, but it was stopped by powers out of your control. Don't worry, I hate landmines as much as you do. 10CP for doing what you could to minimise casualties after the brown and smelly stuff hit the fan.
