This is a list of questions generally asked by new members, and the answers to them.
Who are the staff, and what can they do?
PuNk – Admin
Edward McMillan (JT) – Admin
Nathan Whyte - Global Mod
Heiko Alkema - Global Mod
Mac Bargett – Moderator
Christopher D'Dario (Seejay) - Support Staff
Tristan Herman - Support Staff
Admin – Anything
Global Mod – Edit posts, edit CP on profiles, edit equipment on profiles, Mod-mark, accept applications
Mod – Edit posts, Mod-mark, accept applications
Support Staff – Edit posts.
I’ve created an account, but I can’t log. What’s wrong?
On IO, you have to submit an application as a guest, and then have it accepted. Once one of the Global Mods or Admin has accepted it (it may not be accepted), they will enable your account and set your profile up properly.
How many characters can I have at once?
As many as you want, but most players don't have more than four characters. It's very hard to keep more then 3-4 characters active at any given time.
What are the chances my characters will be killed in battle?
Almost nil. In a battle, if you are getting into the danger zone, so to speak, the mod-marker will recommend retreated. If you continue past that point, the chance rises, but so does the chance of getting medals. So, as long as you are vigilant and read the signs, your character will not be killed.
What is CP? And why should I care?
Command points, CP, is the currency used to purchase weapons, soldiers, and vehicles from the IO shop. CP is given as a reward for completeing threads, both neutral and hostile (battle) roleplays. A neutral thead will generally earn 10CP for each participant; Hostiles will earn about 40CP for the winners and 20CP for losers.
What are NPCs people keep talking about? Why do I need them to join a battle?
Non-Player Characters, NPCs, are generally soldier units purchased from the shop. You cannot bring soldiers into a battle with you without purchasing them from the shop.
What are "Normal NPCs" and "Special NPCs"
Normal NPCs are the basic Private and Corporal ranked NPCs.
Special NPCs are any other NPC; Snipers, MG teams, radiomen, etc.
What are Divisions and why would I want to join one?
Division's are member-run organizations and storage areas for NPCs and vehicles. Due to technical limitations of the shop, if you want to own more than one of any given NPC or Vehicle you'll need to join or create a Division in which to store them. Members of Divisions will also be promoted faster as officers are given the power to promote their subordinates. Other players are also very willing to help new division-mates get started with things like CP and NPC donations.
Okay, so how do I join/start a division?
To Join: Simply post that you wish to join in your desired division's thread.
To Start: Officers with 50CP can start a division. The 50CP is not a fee but is to be used to buy NPCs to get your division started.
Can I be promoted?
Yes, two ways: After a battle if you preformed particularly well, your moderator may promote you on the spot. Another way is by the recommendation of your division officers. The latter is far easier as more than just your battle performance is taken into consideration, though specific requirements vary from officer to officer.
Can I be demoted?
Yes, it is possible and has happened, but you are only demoted for outrageous actions (one bloke shot a superior in the back with a rifle during a fist fight!).
I made a neutral thread, but nobody is joining. What should I do?
This is more common than it looks when you are new. The best thing to do is PM another member and ask them to join. Very rarely will they not join.
How many battle threads can I be in at once?
Only one per character. We can't have you dieing twice now can we?
How many neutral threads can I be in at once?
As many as you want.
Can I be in neutral threads and a battle thread at the same time?
Yes.
