Erik has found another little game, this is a browser-based one, so no download.
It's called Web Diplomacy, and you're basically trying to take over Europe. I've made a little game which those interested can join to get a feel of. It start's in 24 hours time.

Oh look. Erik starts talking about in the cbox and suddenly everybody wants to play.
Well, I'll explain some of the rules and whatnot very generally. But I'm sure if you guys googled it you would find better rules. I believe a few people here also play diplomacy, so they can have a shot at explaining as well. Currently busy destroying Maria in a game though. xD

Alright, I see there is quite a few people interested in this. So, I'll lay down some of the basic goals or rules of the game. But just the basics, don't want to give out any strategy to my possibly soon to be enemies. Hehe. Owen, I know you've played Diplomacy before. If I miss out on anything, feel free to say it.
Alright. There are seven countries: Austria-Hungary, Ottoman Empire (Turkey), England, Germany, Russia, France, and Italy. So every country starts out with three supply centers (except Russia who has four). There are your home centers. You can build armies here or fleets (if the center has a coast).
To build units, you need supply centers. So say I start as France with three centers. And by Autumn 1901, I have taken Spain and Portugal. I now have five centers. I can build 2 new units in and ONLY in my 3 supply centers.
The game does not involve luck. You do not roll any dice. To take centers with a unit in it, or a unit that will move into it as well, you need to support. There are two types of support.
Support move: This is to support a unit in taking a center. The unit supporting has to be able to move to the attacked center as well. So say I'm France again and I move Paris to Burgundy and Germany moves Munich to Burgundy. 1 on 1. Both units will bounce and not move. Now say we do the same thing, but Marseille supports Paris moving to Burgundy? 2 on 1, France wins. Now say Germany attacks Burgundy from Munich. (We'll also say Marseille is out of the picture) 1 on 1, nothing happens. But if Munich attacks Burgundy with Ruhr supporting, 2 on 1. Germany wins Burgundy.
Support hold: This is to support a unit in holding. Say Burgundy is being attacked by Munich (supported by Ruhr). Marseille can then support Burgundy in holding. 2 on 2, nothing happens. And so on.
Now let's move on to units shall we?
Armies: Can only move on land if the territory to theirs is adjacent.
Fleets: Can only move on waters, but can also move into centers with a coast.
Convoys: Armies can move across water if a fleet is there to convoy them there. For example Yorkshire moves to Norway via convoy and North Sea convoys it there.
And finally, let's talk about phases.
Spring: The first phase. This is a diplomatic phase. You make your moves and all that jazz.
Spring retreat: If a unit in Spring's center is taken, it is forced to retreat. It can not retreat to anywhere that has a center or where it was attacked from.
Autumn: Same as Spring.
Autumn retreat: Same as Spring retreat.
Winter/Build: This is the phase where you can build or destroy (if you have more units than centers). Again, you can only build on home centers that do not have units on them.

I'd be up to play in the second game as well. I think the ones left out are Dan, Maria, and Hautt? Me and Heiko would make it five, so that would leave 2 more to join as well. Either from the first game or anyone else who wants to play. But if there's a flood of people that got left out of the first that want to play in the second, I'll sit it out.
