I’m going to try and keep these Mod posts short and simple… The thread is closing in, slowly.

Allied Effect:
CPT Matherson & CORP Brennan may use Platoon #3 & 4
(Lieu. Lancaster & SGT McMillan have failed to post - you may PM them to post, if you‘d still like their assistance)

Corporal, Daniel Brennan:

• With two NPCs & Himself, rough firing at the 1st Bunk has incurred 1 Axis casualty, but hasn’t slowed the MG 42 firing. (hit someone within the bunk - stirred them)
  
  
• Orders for another four men to run up the beach, has been slightly unsuccessful. As two only made it, making the ‘few open’ figures easier to hit, rather than twenty odd open figures scrambling up the beach, which would cause confusion within the bunks on what to hit first…
  
  - (Corp. Brennan and 4 NPCs are now amongst the frontline)

Corp. Naga Warasaki:

• Is yet to establish a retreat position.
  - Naga has 15 NPC units under his command & 2 MG 42s.

[Captain Matherson]

Chris threw himself onto the ground roughly, spitting blood into the sand from where he had bitten his tongue in stress, and stared up at the skyline above him. His half of the platoon had reached the last line of obstacles and was within a stone’s throw of the bunkers up above. All of his soldiers had resumed their current tactic of fire and duck, fire and duck. No-one was gaining any ground anywhere. From as far as he could tell, 3rd platoon had more or less made their way up the beach roughly beside his own platoon, simply because they were under fire from the same bunker and were receiving the same resistance. No doubt they would have received casualties as well, but Chris was just glad to see that they were still alive down there.

He leant up and fired a few bursts of rounds into the bunker, taking careful aim at a machine gunner inside. The targets were much larger now, for both sides, and the Captain couldn’t risk being exposed for as long any more, so he quickly ducked for cover as more gunners became aware of him. Then other soldiers opened fire while they were distracted with Matherson, and so the cycle continued...

...but it wasn’t enough.

Chris saw with a sinking heart that they just weren’t making enough casualties in the bunker for the last leg not to be cut to pieces. And they were so close to their goal as well, Matherson couldn’t stomach being just a stone’s throw from his target and fai... a stone’s throw... The Captain’s eyes widened suddenly, and he reached down to his belt. You idiot, of course! We’re so close now! He rolled over and spoke into the dirty radio on his shoulder strap, sprayed with sand and blood, but still serviceable.

”Platoon Three Command, come in, this is Platoon Two Command, Over.” He didn’t have to wait long for a response, even amongst the din and confusion, his officers knew their duties.

”This is Third Command, send message, Over”

Matherson was quick to explain his plan, ”Third Command, nominate four soldiers on each flank of your frontier to continue firing on the bunker position, and on my command, they will open fire with as much suppression as they can muster. Order your remaining soldiers to prime a hand grenade each and on my mark throw it at the bunker’s opening.”

”Wilco that Two, Three Out.”

Matherson then re-tuned his radio and explained the situation to his soldiers, four of his men on the left flank, and four on the right flank would continue to fire, and the middle soldiers would prime a grenade each, just like the third platoon. They were just far enough back that if a grenade bounced off the As the men fumbled on the their belts and hurriedly pulled the pins, holding the firing triggers down in earnest, Matherson got back in contact with Third Command. ”Third Command, you know where to hit them. Wait for my mark...”

They were just far enough back from the sea wall that Matherson roughly judged no harm would come to them if a grenade bounced off the bunker’s wall and rolled back down towards them, despite the fact they would most likely detonate before they even got close. It would be a roughly three second flight time for the grenades to hit the bunker, and Chris hoped that by throwing en masse, they were bound to get a fair few in. ”Mark!” Immediately, gunfire echoed from the flanks and soldiers leapt up to hurl their grenades at the bunker, several dark balls soaring the distance between them and the colossal stone structure up ahead...

Ooc: Brennan, you’ve got free reign over fourth platoon. If Lancaster or McMillan choose to come back, then they can resume command, but until then... they’re ours

Useless. Good term, great for his moral. It was true, of course, he was useless, but hearing it was slightly damaging. Not that it mattered at all. With a curt nod, and one last humiliated, frantic look at the captain, he turned and followed after Naga, ready for his uses now. The coward, who had grown fat and greedy under the growing stresses built up since he entered this war, was pulsating, cackling deep within the back of his mind. Taunting him, no, tempting him.

Cort froze involuntarily, just the smallest lags in his motor control as the temptation appealed to him for little more then two seconds. Then, something exploded. He didn't feel it at first, even though he was blown flat on his face with flames licking at the back of his neck and burning the cloths to his skin, but he heard it. He heard the inhuman blast, followed by concrete crumbling in on itself. Cort couldn't help but yelling in fear now.

The grenade did not make it all the way through the thin window, but bounced against the side. Which was probably the reason he, wasn't dead. But what about everyone else in the bunker? Ignoring the rubble lodged in the back of his neck, and the almost certain danger that would come shortly after the last one, Cort turned to head back into the pillbox.

Like a trained dog, however, he reported to Naga, quivering and pretty much out of his skull.

"God, damn it!" Daniel exclaimed when only two of the four men made it up to the wire.
"You two." He called over to the men who had just made it up the beach."Catch your breath." It seemed like the obvious thing that they would do, but he had to say something."You! fire a shot up there at the bunker.... every thirty seconds," He said to one of the other men.

Daniel turned onto his back so that he could look down at the battlefield. Most of his men were still at the same place that he had left them. They were maintaining a steady enough rate of fire, taking turns at shooting up at the bunker. His gaze started moving further across the beach, and he could see that Platoon's 3 and 4 were chuking some grenades up at their bunker. Off at the other side of the beach, he could see that platoon 4 was also making steady progress. They appeared to be using much the same tactic that everyone else was useing; Shoot, run, shoot, run...

Daniel turned his head so that he could see along the barbed wire. A small few soldiers from the earlier waves had made it up to this point, and he could see a crouching figure just a small bit away from his "band". keeping low to the ground, he made his way along the sand and slid down beside the man, who turned out to be sergeant. He tapped the man on the shoulder, but got no reply. He reached over and turned the man around to face him, and recoiled at his bloody face and body. The man was clearly dead. The next thing Daniel noticed was the sub-machinegun, just lying in the sand beside the mans body. The soldiers all called them "Grease guns". Ignoring the words he had said to his own men about not taking a dead mans belongings, Daniel slung his rifle around his back, and grabbed the weapon, before rifling through the mans pockets, pulling out a few clips for the gun.

Daniel moved slowly back towards where his men were, and he motioned for them to come closer so he could explain the plan."I've managed to get this Grease Gun and a nice few clips, and this is going to make our job a bit easier." Daniel explained simply. He pointed to one of the men,"You, are number one. You are number two." He said indicating a second man."And you, and you are numbers three and four," He said, pointing at the other two."I'm going to toss this grenade up onto the wire. When it explodes, I'm going to provide covering fire with this," He said, holding up the sub-machinegun. He dropped the
gun and began agian,"I'm going to call out your numbers - one by one - and you are going to get up there to the wall, and take out those Germans from below." Daniel looked around at the men. It was probable that all of them wouldn't make it up to the top."Ok?.

Daniel pulled the pin from the grenade, and tossed the grenade up onto the top of the bank. The grenade exploded, blowing a section of the wire out away to the side. Daniel leaned out, and started firing up at the bunker, clouds of dust rising from where the bullets hit the concrete."One!" Daniel called. He stayed firing at the bunker, for another second before he quickly clipped a new clip onto his gun,"Two!" He waited two seconds before shouting again,"Three!". Then the clip was empty, and he wasted precious seconds trying to force the new one in."four!

When he was finished the clip, he crawled accross, behind the sand. He didn't dare look up, because he was afraid of what he might see.

I’m sorry to announce, but this Epic Battle will be closed on regards of the following;

• The Epic Battle is harder than I first thought to continuously mod-mark, so through fatal errors on my behalf on needing to continuously Mod-Mark this thread - I have found it too much of a burden, not to mention Member activity needed for this thread to work.
  
  
• Calculations of units, consideration of actions (reading through paragraphs and paragraphs per’ post) are in all honesty, far from fun after a couple of pages, hence forth’ making my work extremely tiring and long.
  
  
• Overall, the creation of this thread as shown that ‘Big Epic Battles’ will in future terms, need more than ‘one’ marker for the job and has provided valuable experience in how to better handle it next time. Smaller Epic Battles will be open in it’s place, such as 2 vs. 2 for instance… Rather than 4 vs. 4; or however many.
  
  I’m very sorry I couldn’t keep this Epic Battle running, but again, it has been a big burden on myself to keep all calculations running smoothly and noting everyone’s actions per post, which was too much for one person alone to handle.

  *PROMOTION* Has also been given to Corporal Daniel Brennan, Making him Sergeant.
  
  Captain Matherson: 70CP
  ~ Earned 70CP for showing compassion in true fighting skills and experience. Using alternative means, Captain Matherson has successfully taken heed in leading the Allied Assualt efficiently.
  
  Captain Wolfram: 70CP
  ~ Earned 70CP also, for showing (again) true compassion in fighting experience and relaying orders effectively to aide’ the AXIS frontier (Such as Retreat positions with MG 42s & Good number of units).
  
  Naga Warasaki: 40CP
  ~ Naga Warasaki earned the corresponding CP for showing a true wit and skill in following orders that were given to him, even during a session of being wounded.
  
  *PROMOTION* Naga Warsaki has also been promoted from Corporal, to Sergeant!
  
  Stephen Colly: 12CP
  ~ Becoming a little confused within the RP Stephen Colly failed to follow precise orders or distinguish himself amongst a certain Platoon, hence earning himself 12CP.
