• The first grenade was pretty much useless. Dropping it in to the church, the soldiers were a lot further back and closer to the door. The pews and distance saved them from explosion and fragmentation, apart from one unit, the closest to the explosion on the Eastern side of the church. He recieved a few pieces of shrapnel to the chest. The metal barely penetrated the skin, but it's still a painful wound.
  
• The second grenade was a bit more effective. Although he cam under SMG fire straight away and almost dropped the grenade, he managed to throw the small explosive which detonated in the air above the middle Sergeant.
  
• He has extensive shrapnel wounds and explosive damage on his upper torso. He is panicking, as he can see the blood, and his right arm barely hanging on. He needs IMMEDIATE First Aid to stay alive.
  
• As he leant out the window, Bevan saw two more men in the trench. One up by the cliff, and one further south, near the corner. Another soldier was seen in the crater next to the trench.
  
• David Bevan got lucky this time, as the fact he was in the window for a matter of seconds, meant he avoided getting hit. However...
  
• When he appeared again with his pistol, it was much worse. The private in the crater, the other Sergeant, and Merhoff were all looking at the tower. To put it simply, they got owned.
  
• The Radio Operator took the first shot, a lucky bullet from Merhoff's StG45 through the head, almost between the eyes. Without a doubt, he is dead.
  
• Corporal Harper took a bullet to the chest, which went straight in, cracking a rib. The bone fragment then punctured his right lung.
  
• David recieved a similar wound from an MP40, but luck was with him. The bullet was a ricochet off of the stone window frame. It still cracked a rib, but the bullet didn't penetrate the skin.
  
• With the sheer amount of enemy fire, and the fact they were mainly using pistols, the Allied bullets were ineffective.
  
  This post may seem a bit one-sided, but if you'd read the Axis posts properly, you could have done something a bit more effective. I personally would have put a smoke screen down and attempted a rush on the ladder, or, surrendered.

OOC: Ok this is an epically long post and if done right... overkill . So let me break it up to help out. 1) Jonas treats Meier while Schneider spreads the commands. 2) Jonas opens up on the East side of the trench while Heiko and Eichel the Western side, Lang opens fire up in the bell tower, and Schneider begins his charge. 3) Wolf and Ramsden join in while Ziegler throws a nade in the trench. 4) Kappel provides covering fire while Ziegler moves up and opens fire down in the trench. 5) Schneider rushes and throws his nade while Kappel helps clear out the trench. 6) Everyone stops firing except for Ziegler, Kappel, and Schneider.

The explosion of a grenade illuminated the sky for a split second and rained down shrapnel on the men in the Eastern trench. Jonas had been lucky enough to duck down out of range of the shrapnel, by Sergeant Meier hadn’t been as lucky. He received a handful of shrapnel in his chest, as well was an arm ready to fall off. Jonas got down to his side and cussed… there was no medic. He was the medic. With the most experience with wounds, he figured he would be able to save Meier… but possibly only by the skin of his teeth. Glancing up, he could make out a figure arriving from the South. Schneider had been tasked with carrying a medical bag in case any problems occurred.

Tossing it to the Hauptmann, Schneider hovered over the trench cautiously, awaiting orders. As Jonas searched the bag, he barked out what orders he could, "Entfernen Sie die zwei Granaten mich, Schneider." Nodding in agreement, the private grasped the grenades and pulled them off of Jonas’s belt. "Gelangen Sie ein an Sergeant Ziegler. Erklären Sie Heiko und einem Mann, den Graben zu unterdrücken, wenn ich tue. Ziegler wirft die Granate und schiebt hoch, um den Graben mit einem anderen Sergeant zu löschen. Stellen Sie sicher, dass ein vierter Sergeant heraus den Glockenturm löscht. Dann laden Sie den Graben mit einer zweiten Granate vom Glockenturm auf. Wir möchten dieses Männer abwischen weg vom Gesicht des Planeten. Erklären Sie ihnen, also schlagen Sie schnell und grob. Das erhalten? Gut." Schneider nodded and then dropped his rifle and was thrown the Sergeant’s MP40, before rushing off to inform the rest of the men. Jonas had already prepared a syringe full of morphine and squirted some of the liquid out to remove air. He had to recall some of the basic first aid training he had received… but he was diving into so much more than the basics.

Injecting enough morphine to dull any serious pain into the man’s right shoulder muscle, he assured the Sergeant he was going to be fine and that he knew what he was doing. Jonas dug further into the medical bag and pulled out a curved blade, hack saw, and piece of wood… for an amputation. "Betrachten Sie mich Meier! Betrachten Sie mich! Wir erhielten, es abzuschneiden, es sind die einzige Weise!" The Sergeant understood when Jonas placed the wooden block in his mouth and he began to bite down on it. He loosened the man’s belt and ten tore it off and tightened it a few inches above the elbow and below the shoulder to lessen the blood loss. Jonas adjusted this make-shift tourniquet so it was above where he would be making the cut. Tearing off most of the right sleeve to expose the arm, Jonas used the amputation blade to cut off the skin that was still connected. Now it exposed the humerus bone, which had cracked and looked like it was about to fall off. Preparing himself, Jonas began to saw the bone and suddenly realized he had never done this before. But he didn’t let his mind get the best of him, and successfully sawed through the bone. The brachial artery sprayed a burst of blood onto Jonas, but he quickly responded by tying a knot into to restrict the blood flow.

Wiping the blood off on his trousers, he realized his uniform had been stained with blood from between his waist and knees. He made sure his hands were as clean as possible when he pulled out some gauze bandages, and wrapped them around the stump until they reached about a few inches below the elbow. Now the real threat was out of the way, and Jonas had to do something about the shrapnel. But there was nothing he could do… they were too hot to remove and could cause heavy blood loss. So, he applied a quick loose dressing to help stabilize the shrapnel and prevent some blood loss. There was really nothing more he could do to help.

Schneider was just getting into position underneath the church tower when Jonas arrive, the medical bag firmly strapped across his right shoulder. They had been sure to watch the windows, but with the beating they had given the men in the tower… it didn’t seem like they would be able to try anything else. Schneider was sitting patiently, waiting for Jonas who would begin the last assault. Treating Meier had given the Heiko and his men ample time to rest up, as they would need their strength for this. They swapped places and Jonas got up against the wall with Schneider more towards the cliff. Schneider made sure the church tower's gunners weren't trying to get him. "Jetzt." Jonas whispered, as he leaned over the corner. He opened fire rather quickly, moving down the trench in quick accurate bursts. He focused more towards the Eastern side of it, as he heard Heiko and Sergeant Eichel shatter their windows and were opening fire on the Western side of the trench. Even Wolff and Ramsden, who had cuddled together for the last few minutes to try to dry and warm each other up, had joined in on the fire, aiming towards the Eastern end of the trench. In unison with the fire, Schneider was charging on the cliff side opening fire in bursts towards the trench. As he made his way towards the fuel dump, he dropped down into the crater daring someone to shoot towards him.

During the first sounds of the Stg45, Sergeant Lang knew his shrapnel wounds were minor. He refused to pull them out and put himself in more pain, but he got up slowly and approached the bell tower ladder. Once he heard the Hauptmann open fire, he charged towards the ladder, standing up straight but looking towards the ground. His MP40 opened fire wildly as he moved around the small room, riddling the entire bell tower with bullets. He didn't wish to damage his face or chest with any splinters though and he was careful not to bend to irritate his wounds. Confident he had suppressed the tower enough and even killed the survivors, he exited back into the main area, to find the assault already near its end.

Sergeant Ziegler had already unscrewed the cap and yanked the porcelain ball, before Jonas could open fire. He waited 2 seconds and heard the sound of a Stg45. In unison with Merhoff's Stg45, Sergeant Ziegler leaned out from his position outside the church, and lobbed the grenade right down the line with renewed strength. With 1 second left, the grenade exploded in the trench. By now, Jonas was suppressing the far Eastern edge, Heiko and Sergeant Eichel were suppressing the Eastern side from the church's windows, Lang the bell tower, and Schneider was in the crater. Sergeant Kappel opened fire from the church's entrance down towards the biggest threat, a Lieutenant with a Bren while Sergeant Ziegler was moving up. Finally, Schneider charged with the suppressing fire of Jona. Having unscrewed the cap and pulled the porcelain ball, Schneider had 3 seconds to go. He lobbed it into the trench's East end as accurately as possible, using the fuel dump as fear not to shoot him. Jonas halted firing, having used about 3 clips of ammo. Heiko and Sergeant Eichel's fire began to focus more down the line as Sergeant Ziegler moved in on the South side of the trench, riddling wounded men and living ones with bullets. The first man he opened fire on though was the one carrying the Bren. He was intent on taking him out before he got hit first. The men in the church held fire as Sergeant Kappel moved into the trench and climbed up to the Northern side, firing ahead of where Ziegler was firing in order to give him covering fire.

The trench clearing men halted near the roof to stay out of the range of the grenade. They opened fire down the line at any fleeing men. Wolf and Ramsden stopped firing, and focused back on the bell tower... still fearful of the men up there. Jonas was pleased... he wanted such overkill. It was a whole lot easier and having formulated what counter-attacks the 7 men in the trench could use... he needed the overkill. In the forest, Luft was applying pressure to his calf wound with some of his torn uniform to help form a clot to stop the blood flow for now. It wasn't serious. Junker, however, was using some pieces of fabric from his uniform and applying it to the three wounds or open "sucking" wounds. Air was going through the bullet wounds instead of his mouth which was putting Verner at serious risk. Junker took 3 square pieces and would apply them over the wounds using whatever he could to hold down 3 of the sides so air could escape out of the 4th and not allow any more air in. Then he began to apply indirect pressure by pushing down on an artery to help ease any blood lose. He just needed to keep the man alive until reinforcements and medics showed up.

-"Get one to Sergeant Ziegler. Tell Heiko and a man to suppress the trench when I do. Ziegler will throw the grenade and move up to clear the trench with another Sergeant. Make sure a fourth Sergeant clears out the bell tower. Then you will charge the trench with a second grenade from the bell tower. We want to wipe this men off the face of the planet. Tell them so strike swiftly and brutally. Got that? Good."

Part 1 - Amputation

• Jonas successfully adminstered the morphine to Meier, however, the drug caused the man to start losing focus and drifting away. Jonas talking to him, however, gave him something to focus on, and started calming the man down.
  
• The makeshift tourniquet managed to cut off the worst of the bloodflow to the limb, and the below freezing temperatures caused the veins to contract.
  
• The amputation itself was a success, with the morphine and Jonas's comforting keeping patient under control. Knotting the artery was a success that stopped the bleeding down to a small trickle. However, the longer the patient is on the battlefield, the higher the risk of infection, or succumbing to the cold increases.
  
• Placing a loose bandage over the chest of the soldier, it has stopped "crap" from entering the wound, but it isn't on tight enough to stop the bleeding.
  

Part 2: The combat, etc.

Throughout this, it has begun to snow. At the moment, it is just a gentle peppering.

• The rest of the German soldiers managed to keep the Allies in the church tower reasonably supressed. They managed to get peeks out, but bursts of automatic fire quicly through them back to the ground.
  
• Firing around the corner of the church, he was too far away to cause any casualties, the trench keeping the Allies safe from harm.
  
• Sergeant Lang, firing up towards the tower, large holes have been taken out of the door. Nobody was hurt, seriously, a few splinters here and there, but nothing major. The main floor of the tower, though, was made of very thick and strong beams, that 9mm Parabellum couldn't penetrate.

[/color]David Bevan. This is a final warning. If you attempt anything offensive through this portal, you have a 90% chance of death/critical injury. Your best chance of surviving this battle is through surrender.
[/li][li] Throwing a grenade into the trench, the explosion was quite deadly. However, with the way the Allies were packed into the trench, the damage was minimised. Pvt. Robert Canturbury recieved nearly all of the blast, the grenade exploding right next to him. However, launched in to the air, he flattened Sgt. Havard, who also recieved a few small chunks of shrapnel to his right calf.
[/li][li] While this was happening, and the Axis forces putting heavy fire down, the Allies were firing back towards the church as they could. The Sergeant at the most south-west window recieved glass to his face, before a bullet hit him, penetrating the cranium. The wound is critical, and without a brain-surgeon on hand, expect him to die within a matter of minutes.
[/li][li] Ziegler was made a priority target as he stepped out of cover and began firing. The semi-automatic American weapons hit him in the small intestine, causing his weapon to drop, and for him to fall down, still in the open. Whether or not his is killed depends on the Allies.
[/li][li] Kappel, leaning from cover was forced back in my a hail of American lead sent his way.
[/li][li] Schneider, charging with the grenade armed, and counting down was shot. Despite the suppressing fire, a large, wild burst from Ealing's Bren hit the soldier in the leg, causing him to fall down on the stretch from the church, near the ammo dump.

































































[/li][li] The whole place had the potential to go up, but Schneider made a final, heroic act worthy of a posthumous Iron Cross. He smothered the grenade into his chest, single-handedly stopping the ammo dump from detonating. He saved the lives of just about every single soldier on the battlefield.
[/li][li] While this was happening, the two Pvts in the foxhole, shivering badly, managed to get an exceedingly lucky shot off. Cpl Lynch recieved a bullet to his head, dieing almost instantly.
[/color]Ealing, while you aren't in a good position, it is still possible to snatch a victory. It won't be easy, surrender may seem a wonderful end now, but if you play your cards right, this could turn out well.

Finally,

• The Sergeants in the woods applying first aid.
  
• Covering Verner's wounds, he has managed to somewhat stabilise his team-mate.
  
• Luft pressuring his calf has helped stem the bleeding.

[Nicholas Ealing]

Ealing and his men ducked down once again, adrenaline coursing through their veins, fury stinging their eyes. The Lieteunant could see that the church had been taken; it was swarming with the bastards. At first he had thought that Bevan and his men were surely dead but the enemy, it seemed, though otherwise; if they too believed he had descended into the shadows then surely they wouldn't have positioned their men so cautiously? So, this meant that...at least someone was still alive.

With a renewed vigour, Nicholas glanced over at Norrington and instantly knew that he had the same plan coursing through his mind. They would rescue Bevan. Or die trying.

The Lieteunant gestured for the men to follow him through the trench, keeping as low as possible. It would be undeniably difficult for the enemy to hit them on an off-chance and Nicholas needed as many men alive if he was genuinely going to stage an assault on the church. As always, Nicholas chose not to look at the new bodies that littered the trench; he could mourn for them later. If he wasn't being mourned himself, of course.

As the men reached roughly the half-way mark through the trench, Nicholas gestured for the men to stay put, took a deep breath and tore a smoke canister from his waist. Pulling the pin, he threw it over the bank of the trench towards the nearest window so as to blind the enemy.

A second after the murky fog had gathered, the Lieteunant leaped from the trench himself and withdrew a frag from his belt. Crouching down at the side of the church, he pulled the pin and counted two and a half beats in his head before lobbing it through the smashed window. The split second the weapon had left his hand, he returned to the trench, hoping that the cover of the smoke would conceal his movements from the enemy.

Reaching the trench once more, he pushed forward with his men and reached the door of the church. Wiping a rebellious bead of sweat from his brow, he signalled for Private Lynn to open the door and nodded for the rest of them - Corporals Norrington, Ashworth and O'Rourke and the Sergeant Havard - to train their weapons on the door itself.

With a deep breath, Lynn wrenched the door open and the second even a small crack appeared, the other four men opened fire and pushed forward within the building, shooting the daylights out of every figure they saw. Nicholas had hoped that the enemy would have been killed at best - and shocked at worst - by the grenade and hopefully such a quick attack on the two fronts would succesfully annhillate the enemy or alternatively take them prisoner.

With the foe slaughtered, Nicholas breathed easy for the first time in hours but his troubles weren't over yet. There were still men out there. He glanced over at his companions.

"Train your weapons through the windows," he said, his voice hoarse. "You see anyone, you shoot them. Understand?"

A murmur of agreement came from the huddle of men and soon they were all in their positions, Nicholas and Havard holding the most vulnerable, facing the East and Norrington defending the door itself, ready to deal out more death than any of them had ever even dreamed of...

OOC: The outcome of this post will pretty much decide the whole battle, I reckon. I've posted that the attack was succesful, but Nathan, if the whole thing failed (the second they opened the door they were blown to bits) they will have retreated back to the trench. They won't be hanging around if there are any men left to fight within the church.

Anyhoo...

(1) Men advance through the trench.

(2) Nicholas moves up from the side and lays down some smoke near Heiko's window.

(3) Using the smoke as cover, he lobs a grenade through Heiko's window.

(4) He returns to the trench and they push forwards towards the church.

(5) Lynn opens the door and the rest of the men charge in and pretty much annhillate everyone, using the element of surprise from the respective grenades.

(6) The men set themselves up next to the windows.

Well, this is a relatively straight forward post.

• Keeping low in the trench, the two Privates to the south, and Jonas and co. to the north couldn't hit the Allies. However, heavy fire was coming from the church still, but the walls of the trench served as protection, the mud and thick snow absorbing bullet after bullet.
  
• The smoke grenade was quite effective. It dropped in to the snow just outside the window, and as the canister released the smoke, it heated up and melted itself a little crater in the snow which stopped it rolling away.
  
• The North-Easterly breeze took the deploying smoke almost instantly, and began blowing it through the window of the church.
  
• The smoke did allow Ealing to get out of the trench, as the cloud was quite large and spread over the trench. Ealing managed to get the grenade through the winow. It exploded in mid-air.
  
• The Sergeant that had taken the bullet to the head was finished by the shrapnel. Kappel was inside the building. The grenade got him, covering him with shrapnel causing him to die almost instantly.
  
• Heiko, north of the window was hit by the explosion in force, and knocked to the ground. He has recieved sever shrapnel wounding to his chest. It isn't life-threatening injuries, but he certainly isn't in a position to start doing cartwheels all over the battlefield.
  
• The final Sergeant, on the opposite side of the hall was shrapnelled, being knocked to the ground in shock. The metal is dug in to his chest, and will be a large hindrance for the rest of the battle.
  
  
• As the Allies advanced on the door, two things happened. First, the Privates to the south were firing, but the smoke had played over the trench, and there bullets didn't hit targets. However, they did have the effect of intimidating the Allies.
  
• As the Allies burst through the door, the first real bit of luck so far got to them. Heiko and the last Sergeant are injured and not in the best position. Heiko, before moving, realise you have two American Corporals, a British Cpl, an American Sgt. and Ealing pointing weapons in your direction. I reccomend surrender, fighting could, and probably will be fatal.
  

Rhys, I told you if you played your cards right you might be able to pull this off, and, well, take a look.

Jonas, not to seem unfair, if you really do feel the need to retreat, the rock-climbing gear is still by the cliff if you need to retreat. I'm not officially reccomending it yet, but if you feel the need, it's an option.

The smoke billowed through the window mixing with the fresh snow. It filled his lungs and felt as if someone had reached down his throat and grabbed his lungs. He coughed in vain trying to expel the stifling air. He heard shouts in a foreign language drift through the window.

Bang

The world went white and a deafening roar ripped through the room. His chest burned in several spots. Heiko felt the floor reach out a grab him, his helmet clattering off into the aisle. He remained dazed on the floor for a moment gathering his regrouping mentally as colour came back the world around him. He still couldn't hear anything, an earth shattering ringing taking a hold of his ears and not letting go.

Heiko pulled himself to his knees and looked around the room to survey the damage. Eichel was definetely dead, Zeigler was dead outside as well. Kappel looked hurt but was still watching the door. Lang... where was Lang? "LANG! Wo sind Sie?!" he called out. Lang appeared a moment later from the base of the tower covered in splinters. Heiko saw his mouth move couldn't hear the words coming out. "Gehen Sie hinter diese Kirckenbank!" he ordered through his own ringing. He had no idea how loud he had spoken but Lang took up position behind the pew so he must have heard.

Heiko got behind a pew himself and managed to get his bayonet attached to his rifle before he saw the flashes from Kappel's MP40 near the front of the church. Heiko's eyes snapped upwards just in time to see Kappel take several rounds to the chest and fall limply backwards. Not a second later, four Americans and a British officer burst through the threshold. More flashes popped up behind Heiko, he could only hope it was Lang firing off a few shots.

Heiko's mind raced trying to calculate his odds of survival. Kappel, Eichel, and Zeigler were now dead, leaving Lang and himself the sole defenders of the church. Two against five. He'd never have a chance. Rational thought was out of the question now. It was fight or flight; do or die.

The answer was an obvious one for Heiko.

Heiko took aim at the nearest American and fired his first and only shot. More flashes behind him, presumably from Lang. Heiko exhausted his lungs with the loudest, deepest roar his body could muster and charged the enemy, his bayonet shinning in all its glory as light passed through the only remained magnificently stained glass window. Bloodlust had completely taken over Heiko's mind.

Well, I certainly wasn't expecting this:

Firing a single round, he managed to hit American Corporal O'Rourke in the thigh, and cause the American to drop to the ground. Lang's rounds were a bit more effective, hitting the same Corporal, and impacting the chest. Three bullets caused damage, one lodging in the diaphragm, one in his stomach, and a third cracking a rib.

Attempting a bayonet charge, a hail of bullets met him, both Bren, Thompson, M1 and Lee Enfield rounds cut him down before he could even reach halfway down the church.

Needless to say, Heiko is dead, and shall remain so forthe rest of this campaign.

Sergeant Kurt Lang hesitated for a second and his firing came to an end. He watched in almost slow-motion as Heiko Alkema sprung from his position behind the pews and threw himself at the Allied invaders. It was futile... but it bought Lang the precious time to save his own skin. As the room ignited with fire and cut Sergeant Alkema down, Sergeant Lang threw his own body back into the bell tower. He desperately got out of the way of enemy fire and took cover behind the stone wall to his right. His back to the wall and his knees bent, he cautiously shoved another clip of ammo into his MP40 while his eyes scanned up the ladder to the top of the tower. No one was trying any funny business.

Jonas Merhoff had retraced his steps and could see where Sergeant Meier rested peacefully in the trench. Then his eyes glanced over to where Ziegler was and he cussed. He patted the medical bag that lay on his hip and then got low to the snow and set off down the Western side of the church to save the man from death. As he made his way past the walls of the bell tower and came upon the actual church, something made him stop just before the broken window. His eyes caught site of a green circle flying across the room and he instinctively dove for cover.

The snow against his body was cold, but he propped his upper body up on his Stg45 with the safety flicked on to keep his chest dry. He managed to crawl 2 windows down before he heard the actual explosion and he shot up and bashed through the window. He knew what would follow the grenade and thought he could get a better vantage point on the Allied assault. As he cleared out the remains of the window and was ready to set up, he heard the Allies drawing close and Kappel opening fire. He pulled himself back from the window and crouched down low to avoid being seen from any window.

The sounds of gunfire were distant to Jonas, who flicked on his safety. Pulling one last grenade of from the rear of his belt, he unscrewed the cap and pulled the porcelain ball. 1...2... But then the raising of Heiko's voice and then the fall...alerted him that his Sergeant... was dead. Jonas started forward from his position and he found the Allies moving forward as they gunned down his Sergeant. 3. Jonas hurled the grenade forward through the the window towards the group of Americans and Brits. As it reached them, the 5 seconds passed and the grenade had exploded. Jonas had dove back to his position and grabbed hold of his Stg45.

Simultaneously....

Wolff and Ramsden had climbed to the top of their hole, reloaded their rifles, and were watching the events unfold before them. They saw the Hauptmann moving forward to Ziegler as well as the group of Americans heading for the church. A smoke began to fill and the Americans were lost in it, so they wouldn't see them anyways. Ramsden slung his rifle around his shoulder and helped Wolff, get to his feet. Wolff leaned against Ramsden for support for an easier walk with his broken rib. They walked carefully and gently as not to break it any further as Wolff watched the bell tower window...ready to send revenge to the bastard who had done this to him.

An explosion went off in the church and Ramsden got down on his knees slowly with his comrade. Ramsden knelt down next to Ziegler and began to reassure the man calmly, while Wolff knelt a foot to the South with his rifle in his hands. His eyes were constantly moving from the bell tower to the entrance, before he caught site of someone climbing out from the trench and moving towards the church. It was Sergeant Junker. He had left Luft to look out for Verner and help the bleeding if he had to. There was second explosion. Wolff brought his rifle down to the entrance to watch for any deserters.

Simultaneously again...

Sergeant Lang listened to the sound of a second grenade and immediately realized it was friendly. The Hauptmann was retaking the church... by himself. The least Lang could do was give a hand, so he got to his feet and leaned out from behind the wall. His MP40 opened fire in quick 4 shot burst at the 4 men. His focus was the Lieutenant with the Bren who posed the most dangerous threat.

Once the grenade had gone off, Jonas heard the sounds of a MP40. A lone survivor... Jonas flung himself in front of the window with a better sense of protection now that he knew Lang was drawing attention away from him and he opened fire. His bullets went for the the Lieutenant at first, but his second burst spread to the Corporals.

Sergeant Junker, worried, had emerged from the woods a few minutes before. He left Luft to look after Verner and he spotted the smoked out church. Sprinting into the church, he arrived moments after the Allies had made their way into the church. He climbed over the trench and heard the sound of a second grenade. There was still someone around somewhere. He threw himself in front of Sergeant Eichel's window and opened fire on the backs of the force in the church. He could hear and see other signs of fire and shifted his own to avoid hitting anyone else. As did the other two shooters. He made sure he was positioned so that if Merhoff's bullets hit his window they wouldn't be able touch him. With effective firing on the enemy from all over, but managing to avoid firing on each other, the three Germans cut down the Allied force with ease.

As the fire ceased, Lang shoved a new clip into his MP40 and charged out into the church, opening fire towards the corpses. He took no chances...not after what had happened to his men. Still with some ammo left in his gun, he slowly approached the bodies of the Allies. "DON'T MOVE OR DIE!" Lang managed to say in rough English... if any men made a move for his gun...he would kill them. Without hesitation nor remorse.

Junker climbed into the church through the window, just barely stepping over Eichel. He shuddered, but moved on like he knew he should. With Lang watching over the corpses or possible survivors, Junker approached with his gun aimed on them intently. He moved up and began to kick their weapons away one at a time. Once he finished, he grabbed hold of them and began to store them outside away from the group. He also managed to strip them down of anything dangerous or valuable. Grenades, knifse, shovels, etc. Now Junker took over guard duty, as Lang turned his back and looked over at the bell tower. He moved up behind a pew, keeping his distance. He still had the wounds from the last "trick" they had pulled. His MP40 aimed on the door and he shouted "TOWER! COME DOWN WITHOUT YOUR WEAPONS OR DIE!"

Jonas arrived by Ziegler's side and hurled the medic bag down. He pulled out some of his gauze bandages and made small pads with them. Tossing them to Ramsden, he had the man cover the wounds with them and apply direct pressure with his hands pushing down on the pads firmly. Jonas looked over the man and scanned for anything wrong. He made sure there was nothing wrong with the airway, breathing, or pulse. He made sure the wounds were exposed, but the best he could do for now was have Ramsden apply pressure to control bleeding until help arrived.

Retrieving the coats from Lang and Junker who were the most comfortable given their positions in the church, he gave one to Wolff and made his way to Meier. Wolff placed the coat under Ziegler, to layer the skin from the snow and wrapped it up around his arms partially to keep him warm. Then he returned his aim to the bell tower, still feeling as if there were a threat in it. Jonas brought the other mans coat to Meier, along with the medical bag. He spoke softly to the man to give him company and reassure him about what had gone down. He did the same with the coat, being sure to be gentle as not to disturb the shrapnel. The bandages had helped stop the bleeding and the arm had stopped bleeding. Jonas used some bandage to soak up excess blood and then reapplied a small,thin layer of new bandages.

Overview:

0.) Junker starts running...like a long time ago. A bit after the assault on the trench.
1.) As Heiko throws himself at the enemy, drawing their attention (in your mark it seems as if everyone opened fire on him), Lang desperately makes his way into the bell tower and to cover.
2.) Jonas moves up and prepares a nade. As Heiko dies, Jonas hurls it into the church and gets to cover. The nade explodes.
3.) Lang opens up fire first a few seconds before the other two. Like just barely before, milliseconds really.
4.) Jonas and Junker (who has just arrived after sprinting his way there) open fire. They make sure their line of fire doesn't intercept so they don't hit each other, but it is still efficient at killing.
5.) The firing stops and Lang moves in, firing near them and threatening the group. He trains his MP40 on them while Junker moves in and kicks away their weapons. Then Junker collects the weapons and anything of value/dangerous and puts them outside for safety.
6.) Lang moves behind a pew, ready for funny business, and calls up the tower to tell the men to come down unarmed. Junker takes over watching the possible survivors.

Jonas, Jonas, Jonas. You realise David only has a small wound? He isn't a cripple, ya know, and he has this magical thing that comes in handy in wars. It's called a....gun.

• As Jonas crawled through the snow, he made crunching noises with every step. David Bevan tentatively looked over the edge of the church, and saw the prone Jonas. He drew his pistol, and fired a trio of shots.
  
• The first entered Jonas's thigh muscle, slicing about a centimeter next to the bone, luckily missing the femoral artery.
  
• Another round entered his ass, the bullet getting jammed in the muscle. The third round missed, thudding in to the snow.
  
• Jonas was spared from any futher fire, as while this happened, Rhys's assault on the building happened.
  
  This happened, as Rhys did bugger-all while the smoke grenade was puffing out, and Jonas wasn't going to sit there, twiddling his thumbs, or whatever old guys do these days.
  
  
• Lang, climbing from his position and dashing backwards, managed to avoid being hit, and got behind a stone support for the tower to save himself.
  
• Wolf and Ramsden moved through the snow as the Allies assaulted the building. As the people in the room moved positions and reloaded, the two soldiers managed to, possibly by pure luck, avoid being spotted by the Allies who were standing by the windows.
  
  
• Sergeant Junker, throwing himself up in front of the window that Corporal Ashworth. In an almost comical moment, both soldiers froze momentarily, but Junker was ready to fire immediately. He sent a bust in to the Corporal's chest, five rounds hitting the man. Two in his right lung, deflating it, two deviated high, cracking a rib in two, which pierced the skin and the lung even more, and the final round scraped along the bottom of the man's heart, causing immense pain and making the man fall over backwards.
  
• Ealing who was stood along the wall, stook his Bren out the window, and obliterated Junker. There is no point in describing the damage, the man is dead. Very, dead.
  
• As this happened, the soldiers on the opposite side of the building looked a bit more intently along there direct flanks. Jonas was spotted, and guns pointed at him.

Jonas, friendly word of advice, mate. Surrender.[/li][li]Ziegler, has bled out too much. The Sergeant has passed from blood loss.
[/li][li] Meier, in the trench to the north, has lost conciousness and is beginning to struggle breathing.
[/li][li] Ziegler, out in the open, is losing a lot of blood. Without first aid, expect him to die, in, ooh, a few minutes.

This may seem harsh, Jonas, but you need to remember that David's cert. allows him to stand higher pain than your usual soldier, and his accuracy is increased. And, by basing your ENTIRE plan around one small detail - the grenade - you've pretty much doomed the battle.

OOC: I'm not entirely sure if Lang is alive or dead but I've written that he died. If he is currently alive, then my men would have slaughtered him/taken him captive.

Nicholas trained his weapon on the enemy commander through the window, carefully and deliberately, his face stoic and expressionless. If the bastards thought they were going to take the church, then they were wrong. Dead wrong. God was looking over them; his place of worship would not - could not - be defouled by the bastards who had but minutes ago slaughtered innocent children. Norrington and Havard had both joined him, breathing heavily, making steady eye contact with the enemy so that he knew they meant business.

"Verzicht," snarled the Lieteunant. He knew little German, but that word he knew and he now used it dripping with every iota of fury he had in his body. "Geben Sie mir Ihre Waffe...oder ich werde euch töten,"

The men waited for the Captain to either hand over or discard his weapon; if he did not do so in five seconds, he would be shot. And he would die. The choice was entirely up to him.

Ashworth and O'Rourke were in a bad way, the former particularly bad. The Irish-American had at least managed to stagger to his feet, but the Englishman was merely writhing in pain on the floor. There was nothing Nicholas could do at present. With luck, as soon as the scattered remnants of the enemy were slaughtered or othereise captured, he could use the radio equipment in the bell tower to draft in professional medics and reinforcements if needed. At least he was indoors, Nicholas thought to himself. If the man had fallen outside in the snow, he would probably already be dead.

Grunting in pain, O'Rourke joined the other three in training his rifle on the enemy commander, commendably managing to stay on his feet. The Lieteunant thought about reaching a better position in the bell tower but it was too risky. Being shot at in a blind panic by David Bevan or one of his men wasn't exactly on his "things to do list,". No, for now, he would just have to sit tight.

Nicholas did not know how many of the enemy were still alive, or at the very least, in a fit state to fight, but he doubted there could be many left. But there were some nearby; he could feel it. Perhaps it was the gentle crunch on the snow or the sixth sense that he was being watched but...someone was nearby. Just outside the door.

Keeping his weapon trained on the enemy Captain, Nicholas nodded at Havard, who also seemed to be aware of what was happening outside. Leaving Nicholas, Norrington and the shaken O'Rourke to pin down the enemy Captain, the Sergeant began to move slowly out of the building, staying close to the walls.

The second he reached the door, he span around and opened fire on the two young privates who stood a small while before him. Without hesitation, he sent bullet after bullet slicing towards them, feeling no remorse. They looked weak, wounded, young and inexperienced but there was no time for honour or nobility. The Sergeant's mind was still on the young boys who would never see their family again. The young boys men like this had mowed down with a second thought.

As the privates' blood began to seep onto the snowy blanket of the battlefield, Havard moved around the church himself and positioned himself directly before the Captain. In his new location, stood just before the enemy and just behind the window, he trained his weapon on the enemy commander, cutting off any chance of escape.

If he were to shoot Ealing and the men within the church, then Havard would kill him in seconds. If he turned on Havard, then Ealing would have no hesitation in sending him to Hell. The Captain could surrender of he could die. Two options none of the men on the battlefield liked the sound of very much. But two options that would determine Jonas Merhoff's very life on his cursed planet...

....Ugh.... Four days, four mods. Isn't my life fun? Still, this shit will be over with soon.

• As the Allies fired out of the building, Lang managed to scramble around his small piece of protection and attempt to shoot Ealing. Luckily for the Welsh man, Lang's boots scraped audibly against the stone, allowing the Welsh soldier to duck down.
  
• A burst of fire came out, and Ealing was hit, a single bullet sliced through the tendon on the top of his left shoulder, severing it and severely weakening the arm.
  
• Commands were shouted at Lang, but the German soldier realised the hopelessness of his situation. He threw his weapons out and surrendered. He was very lucky not to be killed by the angry Allied soldiers, but Ealing told them not to shoot.
  
  I made two conflicting statements in my mod last night. I apologise. I have compromised here, allowing some catch-up from Jonas's move, but not completely screwing Rhys's post before it began. Anywho...
  
  
• Merhoff outside, realising he had three weapons pointed at him realised the game was up, with a thought along the lines of "I'm too old for this shit." He threw his weapon in front of him and placed his hand on his head, surrending to the Allies.
  
• Sergeant Havard had indeed heard moving in the snow outside, and slowly walked outside. However, his Spidey-sense stopped tingling then (Rhys, come on.). He made the mistake of looking right first, and was hit by two rifle bullets. One entering his right kneecap, causing the man to drop to the floor as his platella was shattered, and the muscles torn. The second bullet also his the Sergeant's leg, causing tissue damage in the calf.
  
• As these shots rang out, Norrington charged out of the door to try and help his comrade. As Ramsden heard the footsteps, he got up and tried to run. He was shot in the back before he could get far. Wolff, injured in the trench was taken a look at, before being dragged inside, a prisoner.
  
• The Allies got out to Merhoff, disarmed the Captain and brought him inside.
  
  
• Schneider, in the trench realised the hopelessness of his situation, and surrendered.
  
• Ziegler has also been dragged inside, and is a prisoner. He will survive, as First Aid has been given to him, after the Allies.
  
• Meier in the trench has passed away, his last breaths escaping his unconcious form in the trench.
  
• To the south, Heuber has died from exposure. Luft and Verner have managed to escape.
  
  
• Ashworth, and O'Rourke recieved almost immediate first aid when Jonas's bag was recovered, and this has saved them. No more Allies have died.
  

Gentlemen, this has certainly been an interesting battle, advantags leaping from side to side. This Allied victory could have the influenceto change the entire campaign.

Jonas, you fought very, very well, and it is a shame to see you lose. However, you forgot about David Bevan in the tower, and your plan came crumbling down around you.

Perhaps if you had taken advantage of the Allied smoke-screen yourself, things could have turned out a lot different, with pretty much 100% Allied Casualties.

You are now the prisoner of the 7AD, Brentwood being the commander of the campaign. It is his responsibility to set a ransom, however high he sees fit.

Heiko, you also fought very well, and I have to say your last minute suicide charge was a bit of a shock. You are dead, which in anybodies opinion is a bit of a bugger, and you may no longer fight in this campaign.

So you guys know, in your situation, I would have done the following:

Allies
Split in to two groups, one based in the Ammo Dump, the other at the Arty. Wait for the enemy to come in to the open, and, well, rape them.

Axis
Have Jonas and co. stay back. As soon as Heiko scaled the clif, throw a grenade in to the ammo dump, and use the abseiling gear to get as far down as far as possible. You would have destroyed the entire Allied force pretty much, with minimal casualties.
