Character History:
Bill was born on the fourth of July 1914 in Edinburgh. His Father-Angus was a teacher and his Mother-Janet stayed at home and looked after the kids. He was the youngest of the three children and was always beaten up by his older brothers-Darren and Kenneth.
His father was walking back from work one day when Bill was five and was assaulted when he refused to give some money to a beggar. He was taken to hospital and given immediate medical attention. Sadly he died later that evening.
He knew how to play the bagpipes like everyone in his family was expected to by family tradition that went back generations.
In 1930 he left school and joined the army. He spent many years fighting in small battles and acquiring a small amount of kills and a slightly larger amount of wounds and injuries. After many battles he was promoted to staff sergeant in 1938 after going through the ranks.
He was a battle hardened soldier who would never back down unless death was certain and he could get out of the situation. When the war broke out he was sent to France as soon as the Germans began invading.
He took part in many of the important battles of the War. Including D-Day where he marched in front of the army and played his bagpipes. In an amazing stroke of luck he managed to survive but his bagpipes were silenced.
Military Rank:
Lieutenant
Writing Sample:
Bill's heart was racing. He knew what he had to do. There was no other option. He had been separated from his men when a Nazi platoon had turned up and forced them to scatter. He was scared. The sky was beginning to get darker. The sun was nearly about to set.
He kept walking until he could hear gunshot. He wasn't sure if it was from behind him or from in front. He stood next to a pile of rubble and crouched. He stayed silent. The whole area around him was still. Nothing moved or made a sound other than the gunshot.
When he was sure that the firing was in front of him he decided to carry on. He was even more on guard now that he was close to the front line. His heart was racing even faster. He was sweating and itching with nervousness.
With every step the gunfire got louder and louder. He saw something move in one of the bushes in front of him. A man stepped out of the bushes. Bill raised his gun at the man and realized he too was British. He lowered his gun and they accompanied each other around the Nazi lines and back to the Allied front.
