In the heat of battle (William Luther)

OOC: If you ar gonna jpooin read this then you can't start on the brown bit or move they'r that is really steep terrain and if you join just come by yourself don't bring a private

Tom sat on the roof of an abandoned house it was small and crude there was stonework but half the house was med out of wood he didn't dare go back down with the steps the craftsmanship was crude but it was worse in the ether houses. He examined the surrounding area the mountain was rocky and steep he cold not get up there because of the seep slope and the jagged rocks. The Town he guessed must have been deserted for a while the house was decking and the roof was collapsing. Tom tried to think of the house in it's glory days but he couldn't it was to decayed. He looked at the rubble around he could tell that theory was a battle here not long ago they're was ruins every were looked like heavy artillery he mite have been scared but he had to stay and petrol this area orders were orders. The rode had faded a lot over the years it was barley visible it looked more sand than a rode.

The heat was unbearable Tom thought. This was hell on earth he pulled out a water skin he had purchased from some villagers in the towns. But this looked nothing like a Town it was more of a graveyard Tom thought. He
hadn't seen anything like it before it was a a relic of the past. Tom heard a faint shuffle he pulled out his rifle he could hear something he looked over it was a snake.

[William Luther]

William mopped the streams of sweat off of his dirt ridden brow. The African summer was damn near impossible to survive for the white skin of the europeans. The locals were coping fine, but Luther found he could not last more than five minutes without taking a deep draught from his canteen. He took one as he stood and surveyed the village. Yet another advanced scout mission had come his way, and Luther was determined to be more successful than the previous debacle in Poland.

Luther walked along the shade of the cliff, an obvious move, but he could not bear to be in the sun much longer. He pulled a small rag off of the top of his rifle that he used to keep the sun off while he ran and pulled the bolt back slightly, ensuring that the brass housing off the round was showing in the breech. He looked to the sky and a Luftwaffe plane flew overhead plunging the small settlement in shadow as it blocked out the sun bit by bit. William followed the path and took a slight step backwards as it flew over one of the buildings. Stood on the roof was an all too familiar, the clothes of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers.

What the hell are they doing here? Is Bevan with them? Are there more of them nearby? William's mind raced through the possibilites as his time spent as a captive flashed before him. His final promise to Rhys Bevan seemed distant now, something about sticking the Welsh man's remaining testicle up his arse. A smile spread across the German's chapped lips as and idea occured to him, a calling card to the Welsh. He would kill this man, and then castrate him with his rifle. There would be no doubt as to who had fired the shot.

Breaking into a light jog, he ran from the hill to the back of a building. From what he had seen, the entire village was made of single story buildings, although this wasn't saying much as their ws only three buildings. William brought his rifle up to his shoulder and stepped round the corner of the building. Firing at this angle would incur a drop due to gravity, but most of the Welsh mans upper torso was showing. Luther aimed at the very top of his helmet, the target being well within the 500m effective range of the weapon and squeezed the trigger, the 7.92mm bullet erupting from the barrel towards his target. Luther stepped back behind the building, and, remembering a lesson from Poland, stepped well back from the corner so no clear shot was presented.

  - Without a scope to perfect the bullet's judgement of aim, the rifle round slipped straight past the Welsh Fusilier; Narrowly missing the sitting duck, the rifle round skimmed from off the rooftop's surface perhaps six inches from PVT. Edward's leg.

OOC: Sorry it's taken so long for me to post family affairs that needed to be tended too And sorry that my writing isn't up to scratch lately

Tom gasped as the bullet whizzed past his leg. He was no longer safe there was a German in the aria and if so there would be more Tom thought to himself. He lay down flat as he can he hoped that the German would fall for it and think that he had killed him he couldn't get a clear shot but as soon as the German moved he would go guns blazing. He readied his rifle Even thought the Americans made it he blessed they're work it was a fine rifle. John C.Garand must have known his work. Eight shots that all he would have until he would have to move back into cover and reload he could do it he ready himself for more hostile fire toward himself.

[William Luther]

Luther stuck his head around the corner. There was nothing, not the corpse he had been hoping for. He swore before walking around the building, being careful to not make too much noise. The psychological of supposedly fighting a 'ghost' could be a great weapon, especially against those not well experienced in combat.

He stepped into the building, forcing his way through the barred door and took a look around the room. The building seemed to be made up of a single communal area, a ladder was in the corner, a method onto the rooftop, and William's way of securing the kill. He walked over and let his weapon fall on the sling. He tested the beams of the ladder tenderly before pulling himself up. After a few hard hits with his elbow, the hatch gave and sunlight streamed into the room. It took a few seconds for the German's eyes to adjust to the new levels of light before he slowly pulled himself up.

First he rose so his head was just over the parapet. No bullet clove it from his shoulders and he slowly pulled himself up on a right-angle, crawling along the floor pressed up tight against the low wall on rooftop. An idea struck him as he bumped into a small discarded piece of wood. He slowly slipped off the iron helmet atop his head and placed it on the plank. He propped it against the parapet so the top of the helmet was just showing. It would be the obvious target for the enemy.

He carried on, bringing the rifle up to his arm and stopped at the edge of the building. He counted silently to himself, building up the nerve while trying to stay calm. He pushed himself onto his feet, rifle in shoulder. On the building infront of him, he could see the back of the prone form of the Welshman. He aimed central on the back a bullet that would sever his spine, and squeezed the trigger before collapsing back onto the ground, frantically working the bolt on his rifle.

SS-Sturmscharführer Luther:

• Using the helmet ruse didn't much fool the enemy Private, so his attention wasn't directed fully on the helmet.
  
  
• The bullet did hit the target, but only just about. It skimmed across the skin on his back causing a long bleeding wound. Fortunately for Tom it is less than two centimetres deep.
  

If anyone has a problem with me using metric measurments, then though.

OOC: SORRY IT'S A BIT EXRAVIGANT I JUST WANT TO GET THIS BATTLE OVER AND DONE WITH

Tom cried out in pain as the bullet skimmed his skin. He lifted himself and fired eight rounds at the German. he crouched back down and reloaded his weapon he pulled out his smoke grenade.

"See-you in hell!"he murmured as he throw ed the smoke grenade accurately at the roof where the German was.

He watched as the opposing roof filled up with smoke.

"3..2...1 ...Go!" he murmured to himself.

He ran down the ladder out of the door to the house with the German in he reached the door and entered cautiously he pointed his rifle up the ladder and checked it if it was clear he grabbed the ladder and dragged it outside as he ran over to the rubble for cover he crouched down panting .He waited intently for the German to react.

• Due to the distance the smoke grenade FAILED to land on the enemy position's rooftop; The smoke grenade landed just outside the building, still providing more than enough of a smoke screen and cover...
  
  
• Running out of the building and across the the road Successfully due to the smoke deployed, Tom reached the enemy house unseen.
  
  
• Wandering into the enemy building and taking the ladder? Tom has caused enough noise to give himself away and upon his run back to cover (to the West) William Luther has heard him running and generally knows where he is...
  
  
• Remember, the smoke is deployed outside of the building and drifting North-East due to the wind... So the South and South West is pretty much open and clear.

OOC: Don't worry, I"ll happily kill you and finish the battle.

Luther heard a cluttering from underneath him, and possibly a curse. He coughed as a small frond of smoke lazily made it's way up to him as he ensured no other grenades were about to detonate. Checking his rifle was secure in his hands, he ran in a low crouch over to where the ladder was. It wasn't. "Bastard," Luther swore, running over the roof to above the door. On the floor underneath was the ladder, and a small cloud of dust as the Welshman made a run over to a pile of rubble.

Luther smiled as he saw the type of shot you dreamed off. Because of his increased elevation, he could see the majority of his targets body behind the rubble, an unbelievably easy kill. There were so many places he could shoot and fatally wound his opponent, the only question was where would he strike. He decided to go for a bullet into the chest. The sweat-soaked torso gave him some room for error, and even if it just knocked his foe over, it would give him plenty of room for an easy killing shot. He lined the iron sights up. In his crouched position, he used the small parapet to balance the end of his rifle, giving him added stability. It was unbelievable that it would be this easy, but Luthr certainly wasn't complaining as he squeezed the trigger, sending a 7.92mm serving of death hurtling down to his opponent.

That done, he lay back down, pressing up against the low wall, aiming at the hatch onto the roof, incase the enemy survived and tried a final suicidal attack. Murder had never been so easy.

The following actions have been made:

Luther - firing a single round from an elevated position toward your enemy has proven to be a great advantage, even though somewhat stranded. The round slide across the side of Private Edwards' ribcage, missing due to the small amount of smoke that fluttered a bit, still in your eyes. This problem will no longer affect you but has hindered any attempt at glory...this time.

Edwards - The slit across your side is a large annoyance, although not deadly, most actions will be slightly painful due to the location.

"CHRIST!" Tom shouted as th bullet skimmed his hip. That was close Tom thought to close, he was wasting his time the enemy didn't care Werther he stayed O'Er left. This was a diversion Tom thought of course he was wasting his time he had to get back to the camp and report about the dead petrol O'Er the effort would suddenly fall. He puller out his rifle as he shot two bullets at the enemy. He tried to run so but he was reduced to a painfully limp as he escaped.

"Dam you!" Tom shouted he knew some day he would have his revenge some day Tom knew but now he had to get back to James and to the fort.
