Name: Lieutenant James Henry Edward Lancaster, 3rd Infantry Division.
Goes by either “James" or “Jimmy” to his closest friends. Family calls him "James Henry."
Age: 35.
Nationality? “British”
- American
- British
- French
Character History:
Born in Lincolnshire, England in 1909, James Henry Lancaster was born with the courage and spirit of a lion, to which he was often referred to as Richard I, or Richard the Lionheart as a young boy. James had interests in history as well as music during his younger childhood years. His parents continuously encouraged the boy as his father spoke of the wars he had been involved in. As the First World War broke out, James and his mother were sent to live with relatives in Scotland as his father fought in the war, but only to return back injured with a gimp leg and an honorable discharge.
As he grew to become highly interested in tactics and warfare history as well as the German language (which he can speak) a teenager, James began pondering whether or not to enlist as his older friends had been doing around him. Upon his eighteenth birthday, James enlisted into the famed 3rd Infantry Division and began his training there. At first, James was teased for his “baby-faced” appearance, but soon gave new reasons as to what it meant to be a soldier. Excelling well in marksmanship and tactics, James was soon found to be an interesting fellow with that there was more to him than what met the eye.
When the Second World War broke out, James and his friends that he had made were sent over to Dunkirk, France. He had already received the ranking of a Staff Sergeant and was soon expected to learn the ropes from his lieutenants and other high ranking officials – all would soon be thrown off guard as their realities were shattered while in Dunkirk. The Sturzkampfflugzeug, or “Stuka” forces from the Germans bombarded the British forces while there as they tried to defeat the Nazi and Axis regimes both. James watched as many of his comrades died beside him as well as his lieutenant of his commanding troupe. When the British were evacuated and brought back momentarily to England, James spent a few weeks in the hospital for his wounds, but was also awarded for his valor to lead his troupe to a safe point and thus was promoted to Lieutenant.
Though his parents visited him in the hospital, he was wanted to be back in action. After his dismissal from the hospital, James returned to Base Camp for the Infantry. James is prepared now more than ever to fight the battles wherever they may be for not only his family, but also his country and the friends he’s lost.

“Boys...let’s move it out. Keep your bodies down low and keep any noise down. We don’t want the bloody Germans knowing we’re onto them. Now, we don’t need a reminder of what happened at Dunkirk, so keep the trap shut,” James whispered as he looked at his men in the eyes. Most of them nodded as a handful swallowed a quick breath. James felt rather irritated, but saddened for the fact that these were the same faces that he had seen around him in Dunkirk. Young...like him, inexperienced with first hand-to-hand combat. As the troupe began to move out, they were trying to get to the next safe point, but James had soon realized that the person in charge of the map and radio had received the wrong directions as he soon heard scuffling feet.
“Thunder...” James whispered faintly, but there was no reply – turning around, James signaled for the men to stop moving and soon his sergeant was coming up next to him. “What is it, sir? You think it might be...” *“Dumme Briten... Dunkirk bildeten sie aussehen wie Dummköpfe.... Das Führer ist sicher, daß sie besiegt werden...” a voice soon spoke and James recognized it as a German.
“Sergeant...get the men hidden. Now. Don’t waddle, just do it,” James ordered rather hastily and soon, the men were quietly scattering around. He knew that their uniforms were nothing like the Germans and if a flashlight was to be turned on, they were surely doomed. James’ back was aching more than usual, not to mention his attention span was fading away and that a gulp of water was desperately in need for him. As James assumed that the men were hiding, he headed towards to what looked like a little shack and crouched his way over. Looking through the window, he did see that there were about six Germans in there. Perhaps they could take over considering there were at least thirty in his convoy. “Thunder...” James waited a moment. “Flash...” Nodding his head, he waited for the sergeant to return to tell of his new plan...Hopefully it would work and the boys would have a small time for a smoke and drink.
* = Stupid British...Dunkirk made them look like fools.... The Führer is certain that they will be defeated.
