Streets of Aachen

The first German city which was captured by the Western Allies, the Germans fought hard to hold the ancient city. The fighting lasted just under three weeks, before the German garrison surrendered, and the SS units were wiped out.

Crucifix Hill

A day’s worth of fighting took place here on Hill 239, during the attack on Aachen. The hill was named after the large Crucifix erected at the peak, and the fighting to it was fierce. German bunkers and trench systems crissed-crossed the hill, and in the heavy rain, both sides took heavy casualties.

Siegfried Line

A defensive line stretching the northern German border, it included minefields, tank traps, bunkers, trenches, barbed wire and killing zones. The fighting was fierce, and it took the Allies at least six months to break through.

River Rhine

German’s last great defence against its western attackers, this one was natural and had protected Germany from invasion as far back as 9AD. Bridges were destroyed, and amphibious crossings were attempted but often failed. Only after several weeks was a bridge captured intact.

Hürtgen Forest

A long and tiring battle fought between American and German forces, this was more of a WWI type battle, with trenches stretching miles through the muddy Belgian countryside.

City of Berlin

The final battle in Europe, the battle of Berlin was a huge affair as Soviet troops moved to crush the black heart of a once proud empire. The fighting between SS death squads, Hitler Youths and the Red Army resulted in huge casualties for both sides.

Hamminkeln and Wesel

The main targets of Operation Varsity, these towns saw heavy fighting between Allied and Axis paratroopers, as Göring’s private army battled to hold off the Allied landings, on the eastern bank of the Rhine.

East Pomerania

A huge offensive launched by the Red Army across the length of the Ostfront, over a million men stormed through Poland and towards the heart of Germany. Both Danzig and Kolburg were besieged, and German troops fought to hold them until civilians and officers could be evacuated.

Seelow Heights

The final push on Berlin by Soviet troops, the Red soldiers enveloped the city, taking the hills and natural defences surrounding the German capital. Small outposts fought off the huge numbers, until their supplies ran low, or until death.

Open Area

Do none of the above fit the profile of the battle you wish to fight? Create it in the Open area, much like the original battles. This works exactly as the Open area in the Home neutral areas.
